Community Service Committee
The Community Service Committee is charged with serving as a liaison between NABA and the Dallas/Fort Worth Community. The committee promotes the chapter’s outreach to the community through volunteerism and financial contribution. The chapter participates in several annual community activities including:
- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
- NABA Day of Service
- School supply drive
- Holiday toy drive
Back to School Drive, benefiting Alley’s House
Alley’s House’s mission is to empower teen mothers and their children to achieve independence through education, ultimately changing their destiny by breaking the cycle of poverty and welfare. NABA members donate much needed school supplies to the Alley’s House annual back-to-school drive.
Children’s Medical Center
Children's Medical Center is private, not-for-profit, and is one of the largest pediatric healthcare providers in the nation. NABA volunteers in Children’s by reading to, entertaining, and interacting with patients.
Voice of Hope Ministries Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner
NABA members participate in the Thanksgiving outreach program in conjunction with Voice of Hope in West Dallas to help families ease the pressure of the holiday season by providing and serving meals to those in the community.
Salvation Army Angel Tree Program
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program provides new clothing or toys for children of needy families. NABA members select one or more of the angels from the tree at a local mall and purchase gifts for those in need.
VITA
The VITA Program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally, $40,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. NABA members serve as volunteers to help prepare basic tax returns throughout tax season.
